We celebrated our grand opening the first weekend of August 2015, and since then we’ve been stoked with the incredible response from the cycling community around us!
We are the owners of Giant Santa Monica: Carly Paquette, and Elon Rubin. Whatever kind of riding you do, we’re here for you! It’s one of the reasons we are a Giant Store, carrying Giant, Liv, and Momentum brand bikes.
There is a large section of our showroom devoted to the Liv brand of women’s bicycles and gear. Even the exterior storefront sign spotlights the Liv name. Carly says women, and men, who enter the store, really appreciate the mix of product and how it’s displayed. “They all comment on how they can see everything inside, how easy it is to walk through the store, how everything flows, how product is displayed to perfection. There’s just what needs to be here and not a bunch of filler.”
Elon grew up in Israel racing bicycles, riding the Giant brand as he competed. When he came to the US in 1998 (at age 18). A few years later, Carly and Elon worked together at Helen’s cycles in Arcadia. Now, a few more years later, we are all partners in Giant Santa Monica. “It all just kind of came together,” Elon says. “It took about two years – scouting for the right building and finding the right spot. It was a great opportunity to open a premier bicycle store on the Westside, close to the beach on Main Street.”
As you can probably tell, we all love bikes. And one of the reasons we love bikes is because they’re good for the environment, so we’ve incorporated that concept into our design for the store. Giant Santa Monica has been built with LED lights on timers, circulating fans, skylights, recycled construction debris, and minimal impact building materials such as concrete flooring and low VOC paint on the walls.
We think you’ll love our store, our 2500-square foot retail showroom, and our great mix of bicycles and gear. We have a full service department, too! Stop in and see us today – and don’t forget to ask us about our group bike rides. We’re closed on Mondays, so that means we’re out on our bikes. Come join us!
